Welcome to the Food Justice Bike Ride
We support causes that help fight hunger by making nutritious food available at an affordable cost to anyone who needs it. This year’s event will support Just Roots Community Farm in Greenfield. Just Roots is a 501c3 non-profit cooperative farm that participates in the Healthy Incentives Program (HIP) that provides qualifying low income families the opportunity to acquire nutritious food at a subsidized rate.
This year we welcome and thank The Franklin County Rotary Club as “Presenters” of the ride. The Rotary will provide support, a host of services, volunteers, and engagement in all aspects of the Ride. They have really demonstrated a serious commitment to the Ride that will put it on a firm foundation going forward.
This is the second year for Food Justice Bike Ride and we have added a third easier ride of 9 miles to our other rides of 18 and 42 miles planned through Bernardston, Gill, Turners Falls, Montague, Sunderland, Deerfield, and Greenfield. We upgraded the 18 miler to provide for a more pastoral ride. On the 42 mile ride with reduced some of the highly traveled road segment. The terrain on the longer rides is somewhat hilly but they will give you a good taste of Franklin County. This is a “feel good” event as you will enjoy the ride, refreshments, the community spirit, and a nice meal at the end. You’ll also feel great about furthering the cause of Food Justice and contributing to the well-being of a local non-profit farm while benefiting lower income families struggling to feed their own.

Before I go, I want to thank our partner, Franklin First Federal Credit Union and the early sponsors who have helped us pull this event together. It is really nice to see the business community at large take an active interest in our cause. Please check our the Sponsor page for more information.
Enjoy yourself and thanks again for participating.
